Prof. Jürgen Raps, President of the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany - aireg e.V. said ahead of the bio-kerosene panel: "Globally, there are excellent examples of the use of alternative fuels in aviation. As a leading industrial nation Germany can and must follow suit. Market ready options include co-processing in conventional refineries, the re-use of closed sites, as well as highly efficient new plants. Technology and demand exist, the necessary investment however, requires appropriate incentive systems and stable political targets. Norway is a taking a formidable step forward with its project at Oslo Airport."
aireg hosts a panel on bio-kerosene on the second day of the "Fuels of the Future" in Berlin's new convention center CityCube. Honeywell UOP, OMV and TOTAL present their innovative technology options, while Lufthansa shows how alternative aviation fuels can positively influence the fuel purchase of the airline in general.
On the occasion of the conference aireg releases its new brochure "Sustainability of Alternative Aviation Fuels". The initiative clarifies its position on current issues like feedstock competition, social impact and development opportunities of bioenergy production:
